Choosing a Digital Identity
Back in 2017, when I was searching for a username, I faced the same dilemma as many internet users: whether to use my real name or create something unique. I preferred the latter. Instead of picking a simple, one-word nickname, I wanted something that felt more like a real name — something with both a real first name and a real last name.
The Origins of “Alfred”
The first name was easy. I had always admired the character Alfred Pennyworth from the Batman films. More than just a butler, he was a figure of wisdom, loyalty, and quiet strength. The name Alfred resonated with me, and I felt an unexpected connection to it. So, the first half of my new identity was decided.
But Wait! Where Did “Saveron” Come From?
To this day, sadly I have no idea where “Saveron” originated. It wasn’t inspired by any particular book, movie, or historical figure. It simply came to me, perhaps subconsciously linked to the surname “Ron.” Regardless of its true origin, it had a unique ring to it — something that made it feel right. And just like that, “Alfred Saveron” was born.
Rise of “Alf”
With my new identity in Internet, I began using it across different social media platforms and online games. If you were looking for me between early 2017 and 2025, you would find me under the name Alfred Saveron or simply, Alf.
For those unfamiliar, “Alf” is a common nickname for Alfred, and soon, my online friends started calling me that. During this time, I kept my real name entirely private. In the digital world, I was Alf, and that was all anyone knew.
Two Identities?
As time passed, I gradually started using my real name, Ege, alongside Alf. It wasn’t a complete shift, but rather a fusion of two identities. Alfred Saveron was never a fictional character instead it was always me.
Now, both Ege and Alf coexist, representing different aspects of my journey. One is my given name, the other a name I chose for myself. And in the vast, ever-changing world of the internet, having that choice makes all the difference.
Meaning of Alfred Saveron
Alfred Saveron has been the best and longest-lasting username I’ve ever used, and it continues to be. Owning this username makes me happy; it feels like having a piece of history, something with a personal story and significance.
Unlike the names I used in the past — zFalcon, FalcoNNNRoyale, Royalee, and LeTurq — this one truly means something to me. Back then, I was just a kid picking random usernames, none of which carried real emotional weight. Or maybe they did, but they weren’t important enough for me to remember. But Alfred Saveron? That one stayed, and it always will.
